Recognising the need for improved educational collaboration between medical specialists, nurses, administrative staff and allied health providers, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) has launched ClinED, a comprehensive online learning platform for medical specialists and allied health professionals. ClinED is now available here and aims to improve patient outcomes by providing all healthcare professionals with a streamlined, high quality, convenient education service.
Dr Chris Mitchell, RACGP President, said that continuing professional development (CPD) is an essential part of being a healthcare provider for most health professionals in Australia and that these efforts should be formally acknowledged in as straightforward a process as possible.
"An increasing number of Australian health professions have formal CPD accreditation requirements and ClinED makes accessing high standard education and gaining continuing professional development recognition simple for the whole practice team.
"The activities on ClinED are convenient, user friendly and both intellectually and visually engaging, and health professionals can fulfil their CPD goals with education about a range of health disciplines on ClinED," Dr Mitchell said.
Wherever possible, ClinED activities are accredited for relevant professional development requirements and CPD claiming processes are streamlined.
ClinED already includes over 160 educational activities and the service is rapidly growing. Currently, activities are available for GPs (who are not RACGP members), practice nurses and practice managers and the professionals who can benefit from ClinED is a growing group.
"Access to ClinED education is available whenever healthcare professionals are available to learn and the activities can be started and stopped at any time - with all progress recorded - allowing busy healthcare professionals to make the most of any opportunity for professional development," Dr Mitchell said.
Dr Mitchell said that technological support for ClinED is available by phone and by email.
"It's great that learners are not alone when undertaking education on ClinED. Emails can be sent to educators regarding any aspect of the clinical content of activities."
Other ClinED benefits include:
- Activities can be accessed annually, or on a monthly basis, offering a cost effective solution for participants
- Completion certificates are instantly available for all activities
- All activities are evidence based, peer reviewed and endorsed by professional bodies
RACGP non-members can purchase online learning activities via ClinED. To sign up for ClinED, visit clined.au. Activity prices range from $60 per individual activity to $365 for an annual subscription (prices exclude GST).
Please note that RACGP GP members, as part of their RACGP membership benefits, continue to access gplearning for their QACPD online learning activities.
